indirect self portrait

The goal of these photos was to create a self portrait without directly showing my face.

"Tall Glass of Water" Assignment

For this painting i wanted to utilize color efficiently despite most of the subject being white. I accomplished this by mixing colors based on the different tones i saw rather than the raw color. The most difficult challenge I had to face was the reflected glass and to make it look three dimensional. I met this challenge by using different shades of blue for the different shadows. I think the painterly aspects of the vase really worked.

Kitten at Window

Milo is a Humane Society rescue and is about ten weeks old. He has a very active personality and is curious about new places. This is a picture of him looking out of a glass door to the outside. The artistic process for this piece involved: painting individual pieces of different colored paper,  sketching the picture, tracing the sketch, and using the tracing to cut out the shapes of colored paper in order to create the collage. Overall, this process created a children's book style theme.
